Kaiju appear randomly at a certain distance from the base and move around randomly, but might be prompted to head towards the base. If it reaches the base, it will lay waste to the whole thing. Teams can be sent to do things:

• COMBAT: Direct assault on the kaiju, but unless the team has a kaiju-buster the kaiju has an extra factor of 10 in its enormous stats and damage is reduced to a maximum of 1.
• MAGIC: Attempt to seal the kaiju in a special artifact. Without the artifact, it acts like a direct assault. A kaiju-buster is needed for this also.
• SUBTLETY: Several options:
  • Redirect (sub/com): change the trajectory of the kaiju
  • Scout (pure sub): collect info
  • Study (sub/mag): gain knowledge, needed for research team to make kaiju-buster
  • MORE??

Kaiju research consists of three discoveries:

• Kaiju-buster: a research discovery that penetrates the kaiju’s invulnerability field and lets the team engage it as a normal enemy
  • Black: mighty lesser undead
  • Red: mighty lesser demon
  • Blue: mighty lesser spirit
  • Green: mighty tamed beast
  • White: new Archangel’s icons
• Kaiju-trapper: an artifact that lets attacking teams attempt to seal the kaiju within
  • Black: only usable by necromancers
  • Red: only usable by active greater demons
  • Blue: only usable by soldier with spiritual attunement
  • Green: only usable by soldier who has been empowered by the hunted prey of the kaiju-busting beast
  • White: only usable by nephilim
• Kaiju-wielding: putting the kaiju to work for the org (each has upside/downside)
  • Black: summon the kaiju into a dead soldier of sufficient power
    • Upside: no vulnerability, greater undead has full freedom and power
    • Downside: limited kaiju power
  • Red: invest the kaiju into a soldier as with greater demons, activations slowly regenerate but can be used up
    • Upside: when activated, full kaiju power
    • Downside: only usable so many times
  • Blue: kaiju is bound into weapon artifact as with greater spirit, but can only be wielded by a soldier with Kaiju Attunement power
    • Upside: easy to change assignment by moving artifact around
    • Downside: kaiju starts at power 1 and must level up
  • Green: kaiju is tamed by soldier wielding the artifact who has the empowerment of the magical hunt resource
    • Upside: kaiju starts strong and gets stronger
    • Downside: if soldier is killed, kaiju rampages
  • White: kaiju is added to defense force by construction of angel statue
    • Upside: most power and smallest chance of loss of control
    • Downside: defensive only
