So I have an idea for an app. It best applies to quidditch, could also do a variant for shotokan karate. It would be a 1-stop-shop for training, connecting, etc.
Here’s the idea: The main screen has several tabs. They are:
One of the features of this is that
POTD | Settings | DOTW | Houkido | Locator | My Team | |
Purpose | To look cool | Change prefs | Give ideas for team practices | Help get better alone | Help find quidditch practices | Connect to team |
Content | A cool picture with caption & attribution | Settings include?? Maybe don’t need it if MyTeam is working | A pic and some text for a drill (maybe specifiable with size of team?) | A pic and some text for a solo drill to get better | Shows nearby quidditch teams that are either holding open practice or that you’re in a group for; also shows a spot to enter the code for a quidditch team you want to join (get code from team); also shows upcoming events | Shows notifications from team and RSVP button for upcoming practices |
Changes | Daily | On change | Weekly | On refresh | With new info | With new info |
Pricing | Free | Free | Free | Free | Free to see public, sign up for free to see private | $10/year to make team, free to join |
To create a MyTeam portal:
- A team automatically receives a quidditchteam.org account when signing up for a MyTeam portal
- This costs $10/year to cover the maintenance of the app
- Also discourages fraudulent use of the app
- A team sets up an easy-to-use event system, so that with filling out a simple form or equivalent they can create an event and see the RSVPs
- The event is sent as a push notification to everyone signed in to the app
- Includes any info text
- Can be public or private
- Public events can be RSVP’d by app users
- Private events can be RSVP’d by team members
- The event is sent as a push notification to everyone signed in to the app
More coming soon but it’s taking shape!
